The Institute of Musicology at the University of Warsaw invites you to a special music conference: the 15th Symposium of Musicology Students, which will take place on May 16-17, 2025. Abstract submissions can be sent by anyone, and participation in the conference is free of charge. Abstracts can be submitted until March 16, 2025.
The event will be opened by a lecture by Prof. Sławomira Żerańska-Kominek, an outstanding musicologist, member of the Polish Composers' Union, researcher of the musical cultures of Central Asia, national minorities in Poland, and Arab culture. After her presentation, musicology students and PhD candidates from across Poland will deliver their papers. Each presentation is allocated 15 minutes.
The organizers are awaiting proposals on topics related to systematic musicology, historical musicology, ethnomusicology, aesthetics, and music theory. Presentations addressing music in sociological, psychological, political, legal, and pedagogical contexts are also welcome.
Submissions will be evaluated via blind review by the Conference Scientific Committee, consisting of faculty members from the Institute of Musicology at the University of Warsaw and a student representative. The results of the selection process will be communicated to participants via email by April 6, 2025.
