4th Festival of Polish Sacred Music in London, "Joy & Devotion"

The 4th Festival of Polish Sacred Music in London, "Joy & Devotion", will take place from November 7 to 10, 2024. With the support of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, Polish choral music will be performed by some of the best British choirs. This year, the festival will be held for the first time in the unique setting of the 17th-century St. James's Piccadilly church. The artistic director of the project is the distinguished Polish composer Paweł Łukaszewski.

The festival will welcome choirs such as SANSARA, The Choir of King’s College London, Holst Singers, and The Sixteen. For the first time, the program will also feature a public lecture on contemporary Polish sacred music at King’s College London on November 8.

Works by Juliusz Łuciuk, Bartosz Kowalski-Banasewicz, Sławomir Czarnecki, Wincenty of Kielce, Bartłomiej Pękiel, Marcin Mielczewski, Jan Fotek, Grzegorz Gerwazy Gorczycki, Aleksander Jan Szopa, and festival director Paweł Łukaszewski will be presented.

The final concert will be combined with a panel discussion featuring the festival director, Joseph Fort, and conductor David Wordsworth.

Once again, the esteemed Scottish organist Rupert Jeffcoat will participate in the "Joy & Devotion" festival. He will perform at each of the four concerts, both as a soloist and in choral-organ works, as well as during the lunchtime concert.
