5th conference from the series "Polish Music Abroad" entitled "With music into the world! One Hundred Years of the Polish Section of the International Society for Contemporary Music" will take place on September 20, 2024 at the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences (Warsaw, Długa 26). The conference is organized by the Department of Musicology of the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences in cooperation with the Polish Society for Contemporary Music and the Polish Composers' Union. The deadline for submitting abstracts is August 10.
The aim of the conference is to look at the presence of Polish musicians at the festivals of the International Society for Contemporary Music. This organization, established to promote the latest music, was founded in 1922 in Salzburg and brought together composers, performers and music critics. From the beginning of its existence, the Society organized an annual music festival in various countries, an important forum for the exchange of ideas and ideas, where works by young composers representing various directions and tendencies were performed. Poland joined the Society in 1924, and Karol Szymanowski became its first president. On the centenary of its existence, the organizers would like to recall Polish composers presenting their music at the Society's prestigious festivals and taking part in organizational program work, not forgetting the four festivals that took place in our country.
