67th Tadeusz Baird Competition for Young Composers

The subject of the 67th Tadeusz Baird Competition for Young Composers, organized by the Polish Composers' Union, is a song (or song cycle) for soprano or tenor and piano or accordion. In connection with the 100th anniversary of the Polish Composers' Union, which is currently being celebrated, the text in Polish should come from the interwar period (1918-1939), and its author is to be a Polish composer. Scores bearing an emblem should be sent by e-mail by January 7, 2026.

The Competition is open to Polish composers (with Polish citizenship or a Pole's Card) who are under 35 years of age on the closing date.

A work submitted to the Competition may not have been publicly performed or awarded in another competition before its conclusion.

The Competition consists of two stages. The pieces selected by the jury in the first stage, will then be performed during a public presentation. Results will be announced by February 28, 2026. The jury will then decide on the distribution of prizes. The public presentation will take place in June 2026.

The Tadeusz Baird Award is PLN 10,000. In addition, the jury may award two honorable mentions (a hotel and a subscription to all concerts of the International Festival of Contemporary Music "Warsaw Autumn") funded by the Main Board of the Polish Composers' Union.

The Competition Jury will deliberate under the chairmanship of Paulina Łuciuk Frigatti.

The Competition is organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the ZAiKS Authors Association.
