7th Stefan Stuligrosz Grand Prix of Polish Choral Music
The 7th Stefan Stuligrosz Grand Prix of Polish Choral Music—the largest choral event in Poland, often called the “competition of competitions”—will take place in Poznań from 28 to 30 November 2025. It will be accompanied by workshops, meetings, and concerts beginning already on 22 November. The central theme of this year’s edition is children’s and youth choral music. All events are free of charge!
A thrilling confrontation awaits as the winners of six of Poland’s oldest choral competitions—held in Barczewo, Legnica, Międzyzdroje, Rumia, Bydgoszcz, and Bielsko-Biała—come together in Poznań. Each choir is required to present a recital of 20 to 25 minutes, featuring works diverse in style, and to perform at least one piece by a Polish composer born after 1950.
The winner will receive the Grand Prix of 25,000 PLN and a traveling trophy. Additional distinctions will be awarded, including a prize for the best performance of a work by a Polish composer born after 1950, as well as several non-statutory awards.
The competition for the title of “the best of the best” will be complemented by main and accompanying concerts performed by several local ensembles, featuring music by Polish composers. Performers will include, among others: Teatr Mozaika, “Małe Skowronki”, “Skowroneczki” conducted by Julia Łynsza, the Skowronki Girls’ Choir led by Alicja Szeluga, the ProForma Chamber Ensemble of North-Eastern and Afternoon Music under the artistic direction of Marcin Wawruk, the Kiciński Chamber Choir conducted by Antonina Pedrycz, celebrating its 15th anniversary, as well as the traditional appearance of the previous year’s Grand Prix winners—the Chamber Choir of the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, conducted by Magdalena Filipska.
Workshops in choral conducting, vocal technique, and music education will be led by respected specialists from Poland and abroad, including conductors Maria Piotrowska-Bogalecka and Marcin Wawruk; composer, pianist, and vocalist Anna Weber (Pomelody); conductor and rhythmics educator Urszula Polak (Gordon Institute); and Belgian conductor Tom Johnson, who will lead workshops on “Everyone Can Sing – An Introduction to Open Singing”. The organizers invite all those who believe that participation in children’s choral activities can help them grow into sensitive, empathetic, and open-minded adults.
The workshops are organized in cooperation with the Department of Choral Conducting of the I.J. Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań.
Co-funded by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund, a state-purpose fund.
