On September 27, 2024, at 7:00 PM, another concert will take place as part of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the artistic activity of the Silesian Philharmonic Choir. The Choir and the Silesian Symphony Orchestra will perform under the direction of Yaroslav Shemeta, alongside recognized soloists: Anna Malesza, Anna Lubańska, Rafał Bartmiński, and Artur Janda.
The evening will begin with a piece also linked to this jubilee. The Silesian Philharmonic Choir, conducted by Jarosław Wolanin, will perform "Lobgesang" for a cappella choir and orchestral bells, composed by Henryk Mikołaj Górecki in 2000 to commemorate the 600th anniversary of the birth of printing inventor Johannes Gutenberg. In this way, the composer references Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy’s Second Symphony in B-flat major, "Lobgesang", which was composed in 1840 to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the invention of printing.
The concert will also feature Wojciech Kilar's Te Deum, written in 2008 for solo voices, mixed choir, and orchestra, dedicated to the memory of the composer's wife, Barbara Kilar. It is based on the text of a solemn, laudatory hymn from the Latin liturgical canon.
The jubilee concert will conclude with Beethoven's Mass in C major.
