On 10 December 2025, by virtue of a resolution, the Presidium of the Main Board of the Polish Composers’ Union decided to appoint Mr. Kamil Staszowski as Acting Director of the Polish Music Information Centre POLMIC.
Kamil Staszowski (born 1987 in Wodzisław Śląski) is a manager, researcher, music promoter, musician, and composer. In recent years, his research has focused on manuscript scores by Polish film music composers, as well as archival materials—including audiovisual archives—radio activity, and music outreach. He is a graduate of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw (major: Composition and Music Theory, composition class of Prof. Stanisław Moryto), and has also completed postgraduate studies in cultural management (UMFC/SGH).
The Polish Music Information Centre POLMIC was established in 2001 on the basis of the Library and Sound Archive of the Polish Composers’ Union—formerly the Centre for Documentation of Polish Contemporary Music—which for over fifty years had collected books, scores, recordings, and information on contemporary Polish composers and their works.
Today, POLMIC operates as the custodian of the Polish Composers’ Union’s resources, managed in cooperation with the National Institute of Music and Dance. POLMIC serves as a key knowledge base for Polish music, with particular emphasis on contemporary repertoire. Its core activities include a scholarly library and the first internet service dedicated to Polish classical music of the 20th and 21st centuries. POLMIC represents Poland in IAMIC — the International Association of Music Information Centres.
