The Sorcerer, the Clavichord, and the Stuffed Crocodile” – one of the most intriguing editions of the “Meetings at the Composers’” series will take place in the legendary Fukier Townhouse at 27 Old Town Market Square in Warsaw. The main guests of the meeting and concert on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 4:00 PM, will be Maria Erdman and… clavichords! Admission is free!
Maria Erdman – an outstanding Polish clavichordist, organist, and music theorist – will visit the headquarters of the event’s organizer, the Polish Composers’ Union, on the last weekend of May.
She will talk about the history of the world’s quietest instrument, its artistic qualities, and the techniques of sound production that may interest not only performers but also composers.
We will see a presentation of various clavichords, both online and in person, and we will hear their sound through the music of Renaissance, Baroque, and other composers – including a piece composed especially for her by Aleksander Kościów.
Perhaps we’ll even get the chance to touch the keys of this rare instrument ourselves? But very gently...
The meeting will also feature some delicately sweet treats – as is tradition, we invite you to enjoy refreshments and an informal conversation with Ms. Maria Erdman.
