The concert of the NFM Girls' Choir, NFM Boys' Choir, and the Rondo Vocal Ensemble, conducted by Małgorzata Podzielny, will take place on October 27, 2024, at 5:00 PM. The common theme of the compositions in the program is the fascination with the natural world, which has inspired generations of creators and performers for centuries.
The concert will open with the cheerful and lyrical Sanctus by composer Anna Rocławska-Musiałczyk. Additionally, the audience will hear works by John Rutter, Gioachino Rossini, Bruno Coulais, Heinrich Schütz, and John Tavener. W zielonym gaiku (In the Green Grove) is a folk-style song for children's choir, written by Silesian composer Józef Świder to the words of Maria Czerkawska. Świder also arranged the lively folk song Hej, bystra woda (Hey, Clear Water). Gloria is a setting of a liturgical hymn by composer and choral conductor Piotr Jańczak. Requiem aeternam and Lux aeterna are somber, contemplative movements from Missa brevis pro defunctis by Stanisław Moryto.
The evening will conclude with two pieces referencing the music of the Kurpie region. The first is the lively Jakem ja szedł from the cycle Kurpie Songs by Kazimierz Sikorski, and the second is the somewhat mysterious Lecioły zórazie from Four Kurpie Songs by contemporary conductor and composer Jan Krutul.
