Pianist Uijin Oh to Perform Complete Piano Works by Roman Haubenstock-Ramati in Seoul

Pianist Uijin Oh will be performing a recital featuring the complete piano works of renowned Polish composer Roman Haubenstock-Ramati. The recital will be held at IPAC Art Hall in Seoul and is scheduled for August 22, 2024, at 7:30 PM.

This special event commemorates the 105th anniversary of Haubenstock-Ramati's birth and the 30th anniversary of his passing. The recital also honors the 90th birthday of French-Slovenian composer Vinko Globokar and the 100th birthday of Italian composer Luigi Nono, with selected works from these composers included as guest pieces.

Live electronics will be handled by Sangbin Rhie and Han Lee.

Uijin Oh (*1998) specializes in avant-garde and contemporary music from the late 20th century onwards. Since 2017, he has been involved in archiving educational recordings of contemporary music and has actively facilitated creative exchanges among composers. His recent notable performances include the complete piano works of Iannis Xenakis in 2022 and the Korean première recital of Karlheinz Stockhausen's Natürliche Dauern in 2023. Sangbin Rhie's (*1994) interests lie in sound synthesis, signal processing, and modern music acoustics. As an active composer, sound designer, and audio engineer, his works have been commissioned and performed in South Korea and the USA. Han Lee (*1998) focuses on music and performance as objects. He explores the impact of direct and explicit elements within hyper-mediated, hybrid experiences. His works have been performed by various ensembles worldwide; Our Jukebox is Acting Up premiered by Klangforum Wien at the Tongyeong International Music Festival in 2024.
