Polish Composers’ Union Centennial Festival: Concert of the Wrocław Branch
The Centennial Festival of the Polish Composers’ Union will open on November 3, 2025, at 6:00 PM at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music with a concert by the Wrocław Branch of the PCU, featuring the NFM Leopoldinum Orchestra, conducted by Christian Danowicz. The orchestra will perform works by composers connected with Lower Silesia. The presentation of electroacoustic pieces will include appearances by the composers themselves – creators of extraordinary sonic discoveries. Free admission!
The repertoire is an attempt to showcase the rich and diverse community of composers that constitutes the Wrocław Branch of the Polish Composers’ Union.
This outstanding Wrocław-based ensemble has made a significant contribution to the performance of contemporary music, particularly by members of the Wrocław PCU. This time, they will present works representing various generations, stylistic richness, different approaches to compositional philosophy, and varying relationships to sonic material – and to sound itself.
The concert – divided by an intermission – will begin each half with electroacoustic works (Hendrich, Zemla).
“We couldn’t deny ourselves this pleasure – after all, Wrocław is also known for its electronic music. We hope that the selected works will bring satisfaction to the audience, but also offer, in some way, a cross-section (though obviously incomplete) of this fascinating community, composed of truly intriguing personalities,”
– invites Dr. Mateusz Ryczek, President of the Wrocław Branch of the Polish Composers’ Union.
