On January 8, 2019, the 26th gala of Polityka's Passports awards took place at the Polish Theater in Warsaw.
Paszport Polityki (Polityka's Passport) is an annual prestigious Polish award presented by the weekly magazine Polityka since 1993. It is presented in six major categories: literature, film, theatre, classical music, popular music, and visual arts. Since 2002, the special award "Creator of culture" has also been granted to creators who in a special and non-standard way contribute to the promotion of Polish culture in the country and in the world.
This year, the winner in the category of "Classical Music" nominees were: counter-tenor Jakub Józef Orliński – winner of the Grand Finals at the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, pianist Tomasz Ritter – winner of the 1st International Chopin Competition on Historical Instruments and composer Aleksander Nowak. The latter won the Polityka Passport for creative independence and original musical world view.
In the category of "Digital Culture", the prize was given to the extremely creative panGenerator group, composed of: Piotr Barszczewski, Krzysztof Cybulski, Krzysztof Goliński, and Jakub Koźniewski. The PanGenerator collective has been awarded the Passports "for the phenomenal bonding of analog and digital worlds into one whole, for creativity in creating objects and installations that become links between modernity and tradition". At the request of the "Warsaw Autumn" Festival, the group created an interactive installation called Music of the spheres.
