From My Room is an eccentric, experimental work by Dominik Strycharski, placed at the intersection of contemporary chamber opera, concert music, electronic music, performance, and sound installation. It will have its premiere performed by the Hashtag Ensemble at Hashtag Lab in Warsaw on April 26, 2026 at 7.00 pm.
The piece explores the relationships between musicians, creators, and performers, focusing on a composer navigating personal and creative crises.
The composition combines precisely scored parts with collective intuitive playing, rooted in various forms of conducted and conceptual improvisation. It initiates a vivid interaction with a video track that serves as both a biting, witty commentary and a subversive set of instructions. From My Room also marks a collision between operatic aesthetics and the contemporary "Glitch" style, defined by digital artifacts and diverse electronic timbres. Dominik Strycharski himself will participate in the premiere, drawing on his long-standing vocal experience and years of work with electronically permutated voice.
