On October 11, 2024, at 7:00 PM, the Silesian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Aleksander Humala, will present a program featuring works by Ludwig van Beethoven and Franz Schubert, complemented by a symphonic cycle by the Silesian composer Bolesław Woytowicz. The soloist will be the outstanding violinist Tobias Feldmann, laureate of, among others, the International Queen Elisabeth Competition and the Joseph Joachim International Violin Competition.
Feldmann will perform Beethoven's Violin Concerto. Following that, Woytowicz's Symphonic Sketches will be presented. The emotional depth of this neoclassical work reflects the pursuit of beauty through simplicity and precision of form. It consists of the following parts: Recitativo, Intermezzo rustico, Siciliana, Scherzo, Berceuse, and Polonaise, drawing inspiration from the dance suite of the Baroque era.
“If all works were as perfect as this, we would live in a true musical paradise,” said Johannes Brahms about Franz Schubert’s Symphony No. 8 in B minor, which will conclude the concert.
