The world premiere of the winning composition of the 3rd International H. M. Górecki Composition Competition by Paweł Konkol

The Silesian Philharmonic Choir will perform the world premiere of the winning composition of the 3rd International H. M. Górecki Composition Competition, How Dear to Me the Hour by Paweł Konkol, on March 21, 2025, at 7:00 PM.

Paweł Konkol (born in 2000) is an organist and composer, a graduate of the Composition and Music Theory Department of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw under the supervision of Prof. Paweł Łukaszewski. He is a laureate of international composition competitions. Thanks to his victory in the H. M. Górecki Competition, his piece will also be recorded during the March concert.

In the second part of the concert, the Silesian Philharmonic Choir and Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Yaroslav Shemet, will be joined by recognized soloists – Natalia Rubiś, Karolina Sikora, Paweł Brożek, and Remigiusz Łukomski – to commemorate the anniversary of the Upper Silesian Tragedy and perform Antonín Dvořák’s Requiem.
