Workshops "Don't Be Afraid to Improvise!" – Call for Participants

The Polish Society for Contemporary Music invites young musicians aged 8–15, who are learning to play any instrument in Warsaw music schools, privately, or at other institutions offering music classes, to participate in the free workshops "Don't Be Afraid to Improvise!". Deadline for submitting applications is May 29, 2026.

This is yet another edition of the initiative led by composer and pianist Jarosław Siwiński and double bassist Małgorzata Kołcz. During the classes, participants discover an alternative to the ubiquitous mass culture and open themselves up to contemporary music. The workshops also create a space for developing mutual respect, cooperation skills, as well as independence in thinking and action.

Having one's own instrument is required to participate in the event. The workshops will be held in a hybrid format on the following dates:

June 13, 20, and 27, 2026 – online workshops

June 28, 2026 – in-person workshops and the final concert

On Sunday June 28 at 12.30 pm, the final concert featuring the participants and leaders will take place at the Ursus Culture Centre DK Kolorowa, and it will be open to the public. Applications must be submitted by May 29 via the application form:

The event will be held as part of the Society's "Creative Warsaw" ("Warszawa kreatywna") program, which is co-financed by the Capital City of Warsaw.
