World premiere of Przemysław Scheller’s "Apophasis" in Katowice

Information about the event | Katowice | 16 October 2025

The "Pro Muzyka Nowa" Foundation invites you to the concert "Pro Melodia Nowa" on October 16, 2025, at 7:00 PM in the concert hall of the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice. The Jaworzno City Chamber Orchestra "Archetti," conducted by Maciej Tomasiewicz, will give the world premiere of Apophasis by Przemysław Scheller. We will also witness the Polish premieres of works by Kaija Saariaho and Edith Canat de Chizy. Admission is free.

The concert invites listeners to discover the unexpected forms of melody in contemporary music—from its hidden emanations to intense, emotional confessions that require particular attentiveness from the audience. "It is a proposal for a journey in which the question of the 'new melody' becomes a question about ourselves and about how we want to listen to music today," emphasize the organizers.

For the first time in the world, the audience will hear Apophasis by Przemysław Scheller—a composition commissioned by the "Pro Muzyka Nowa" Foundation and co-funded by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.

Also featured will be the Polish premieres of Siloël by Edith Canat de Chizy and Terra Memoria by Kaija Saariaho.

The event is partnered by Katowice City of Gardens as part of the "Microgrants" program.
