Photo report from the presentation of the project "The Soul of Sounds"
A meeting with the figures featured in the project "The Soul of Sounds" and its author, Dr. Marietta Morawska-Büngeler, took place on September 27, 2024, at the Polish Composers' Union (ZKP) headquarters in Warsaw. The event was part of the 67th International Festival of Contemporary Music "Warsaw Autumn" and the "Meetings with Composers" series. The meeting was hosted by ZKP president, Dr. Mieczysław Kominek.
The book, which exceeds 1,000 pages, includes in-depth interviews with fifteen composers who hold significant positions in the Polish music scene, along with documentation of their works, photographs, excerpts from scores, and manuscripts.
Composers such as Rafał Augustyn, Krzysztof Baculewski, Krzysztof Knittel, Stanisław Krupowicz, Elżbieta Sikora, Tadeusz Wielecki, Krzysztof Bilica, and Barbara Przybyszewska-Jarmińska shared their experiences of working with Marietta Morawska-Büngeler.

The Polish Composers' Union / Polish Music Information Center (POLMIC) expresses its gratitude to Marietta Morawska-Büngeler for generously donating her book, which she prepared at her own expense in the form of a website, to be published on our online portal. We appreciate the author’s years of work on the book and its publication, as well as her personal financial contribution to conducting research, interviewing composers, and covering publishing and promotional efforts. We also join in thanking all the sponsors, patrons, and benefactors of the publication, as well as everyone else who contributed, whether in a larger or smaller but always significant way, to the creation of this important book for Polish culture.
The project Dusza dźwięków (The Soul of Sounds) was supported by the composers featured in the book, photographers who donated their images without a fee, music publishers who offered musical examples, as well as sponsors, patrons, consultants, and many institutions and individuals from Poland and abroad, whose support enabled the book to be published in such a rich and comprehensive form.
The photographs were taken by Maciej Borowski, and the meeting was recorded by Grzegorz Mart's Contemporary Art Documentation company.
