9 wonderful musicians will take part in the 3rd International Mokotów Organ and Chamber Music Festival, and we will hear them on July 14, 17 and 21, 2024 at 6.00 p.m. in the Warsaw Sanctuary of St. Andrzej Bobola (Rakowiecka 61).
The festival will be inaugurated with a performance by the main organist of the Lublin Cathedral, Stanisław Maryjewski, and the early music ensemble villaNova. A special place in the program will be occupied by beautiful works by Aldebrand Subissati, the court violinist of King John Casimir, and after the concert you will be able to purchase a CD with the complete Subissati sonatas interpreted by these experts in historical performance.
On Wednesday, July 17, the vocal and organ trio (organist Katarzyna Olszewska, tenor Jacek Szymański and bass Dariusz Wójcik) will present a number of operas, oratorios and cantatas and songs with organ accompaniment, including those by Mieczysław Karłowicz and Edward Pałłasz, and solo organ music will open and close the concert.
The final concert of the Festival will be devoted to Polish music, and more specifically to two important names who have become a permanent part of its history - Mieczysław Surzyński (his works will be performed by organ virtuoso Jerzy Kukla) and Fryderyk Chopin (his music will be interpreted by the Chinese pianist Lelin Qi, a PhD student at Fryderyk Chopin University of Music). This year marks the 100th anniversary of Surzyński's death.
The festival will be held under the honorary patronage of HE Kazimierz Cardinal Nycz, Metropolitan of Warsaw.
The project was financed by the Mokotów District Office of the Capital City of Warsaw.
