On March 29, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Pomeranian Philharmonic in Bydgoszcz invites you to a concert featuring the Second Flute Concerto by Mieczysław Weinberg.
This year, Mieczysław Weinberg would celebrate 100th birthday. Born in Warsaw on December 8, 1919, a composer and pianist of Jewish origin emigrated to the USSR after the outbreak of World War II and continued his artistic career there. His Second Flute Concerto, Op. 148 will be performed by Łukasz Długosz, a laureate of many national and international prestigious flute competitions.
After the break, we will listen to Sergei Rachmaninov's Symphony No. 2 in E minor, Op. 27, which brought the composer considerable publicity and remains one of his best-known compositions. The Symphony Orchestra of the Pomeranian Philharmonic will perform under the baton of Robertas Šervenikas – graduate of the St. Petersburg Conservatory, conductor of the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra and the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theater.
